I'm no detectorist but this seems to work okay. My kid found a few things.

Not bad

Fairly light and short. Maybe slightly too heavy for my 5 year old to use for a long time without getting tired. No volume control but you could easily tape the speaker to mute it, and it was just the right volume for outdoor use. The fins on there dont really make it easier to hold and are just cosmetic. Im definitely glad it takes AA batteries instead of a 9 volt. The different faces are definitely a big hit. In terms of its metal detecting ability, I think it works fine for a kid. Ive never used a metal detector before and I could tell right away you can get a few false alarms, but I presume thats typical and we had to teach your kid what to expect. Was able to find small coins and objects we had scattered around the yard. Will need to try it at the beach next. Overall not a bad buy.

Perfect Detector for Very Young Kids

I got this detector for my 4 year old so we could detect at her playground. It is fun and she likes it. I like that you can descriminate three tiers of items. I typically start her off knotching out iron and foil leaving the happy face icon only (coins and above). It easily finds coins at a few inches. The coil is small so no need to go too crazy pinpointing. Working with daddy we uncovered over a dollar in 30mins. I would recommend using a cheap pinpointer so kids can feel involved in the recovery. Maybe assisting with a Garrett just for speed's sake. This is a good way to get kids interested in your metal detecting hobby.

Easy to use

Bought for 5 yr old grandson. He loves it! Adjustable size and Lightweight but sturdy. It was a big hit.

Better than expected

When I first opened it it seemed like a toy, put the 2 as batteries in my 6 year old took it out found a penny buried about 4" deep i was impressed. I buried a 1943 walking liberty 1/2 dollar about 5" deep in the front yard took him around front had him start about 8 feet away along flower bed 5 minutes later he says it's got a happy face he dug it up and couldn't believe there was treasure in the yard I couldn't tell him I put it there, but he did find it and dug it up. The only thing I think could be better is having a arm brace like the bigger detectors do, if it had that I would rate 5 stars

Absolutely Fabulous!

I bought this for my 7 year old daughter and I have to say, I am very (pleasantly!) surprised at not only the quality, but the accuracy as well! My daughter can easily find treasures and has not been disappointed with her findings so far - she has been telling all of our family and her friends how awesome her new metal detector is and all about things that she's found. Her enthusiasm motivated my brother to get one for each of his three boys. The design is flawless, allowing my small 7 year old to carry it and swing with ease and the emoji interface is very cute and helpful, she says it's her favorite part. As a mother with a very energetic child, I would highly recommend this product - It's perfect for getting the kids out of the house for some exercise, fresh air, and some good old-fashioned treasure hunting. Well done!

Great for kids - good value for money

Very easy to use for my kids (5 & 7 yo). Light and easy to carry, and big screen with simple button functionality. Takes batteries, which have lasted a long time. To make this product a 5 star, I would liked to have had a earphone jack as it can be quite noisy.

It is great for young beginner. It works well for finding coins planted around the yard by grandparents. Good introductory metal detector.

Absolute garbage, box was damaged and the metal detector is cheap plastic and looks like a dollar store item
