Guinness Party Keg Success with Stainless Steel Upright Picnic Pump Beer Rod

The picnic pump rod greatly simplified the plumbing requirements for my Guinness party keg and also greatly reduces cleanup. The rod provided a leak-free connection between the keg coupler and the Guinness faucet. The faucet nut turned smoothly with the proper faucet nut (not included with rod purchase) and securely locked the faucet into a perfectly vertical position, or any other position I could've chosen. Once the nut is tightened, there was no possibility of the faucet rotating out of position. The only "problem" with the beer rod is that it didn't provide nearly enough head space to balance out the nitrogen/CO2 system and so the Guinness flowed with slightly less than normal head of foam in the glass. I later found out that you need approximately 5-6 feet of beer line to achieve the proper carbonation, rather than the 18 inches of the rod itself. Oh well, the head of foam was only 1/2" instead of the usual 3/4" to 1". Shouldn't be a problem with pure CO2 keg systems, though.

Don’t buy, product is poorly manufactured. When I received mine I found it scratched up, which I was willing to overlook since I only needed it to work for a party. Unfortunately the threads on the part did not match as advertised. Adding insult to injury it looks like I’m paying to ship their junk back to them. Don’t buy unless you like throwing money and time away.

Mobile Draft System Component.

If your into draft beer this gadget is great to have to dispense your keg properly at a backyard party or picnic. The good thing about it is you can use your own keg coupler and co2 system and have a portable draft system. Just get a clean trash can full of ice and without having to introduce air from a party pump your keg will last without oxidation. That way if the keg doesn't immediately get all consumed you can save it for many days/weeks without doing any harm to the beer!
