Heavy apron but cheap construction

This apron is indeed heavy (and stinky!) and should be great protection from heavy messes, but the straps and grommets are very poor quality; the grommets are flimsy, and two of them were stamped off-center so they disintegrated when I tried to run the straps through them. The hemming doesn't seem to be sewed with heavy thread, so I'm worried it might unravel over time. I'm debating whether I should repair the apron with better parts or return it, but really the basic material is really strong, so I'll probably just make do.

Big and Sturdy

This apron is very heavy, thick, sturdy and feels strong. It also smells strong, like new tires, but I hope that the smell will fade with exposure to air. The description says it weighs 5 lbs, and it is every bit of that. A yard wide, it wraps almost all of me, not just the front, and it covers from throat to knees. The edges are folded over and sewn with about a half-inch or more of overlap, so the edges are extra sturdy but have the holes where the stitches go through. There are the four holes for the cord that are protected by nice thick grommets. The apron may seem a little pricy, but I expect it will outlive me.

Seems sturdy and a good length

Seems sturdy and a good length, only problem is the overpowering rubber/vinyl smell. Its tough to wear an apron that gives you a headache from the fumes
