3 DEFECTIVE ATTWOOD PUMPS ? WOULD YOU TRUST YOUR BOAT TO ONE ??

1 Dec Email to Customer “SERVICE” dept of Attwood. So XXXX...Just to recap my issues.. Pump #1 lasted about a month..(purchased 28July2014.. the motor shaft " dissolved"? see attached pix.. Pump #2 arrived with the float switch wired backwards internally, ie float down is ON and up is OFF!!! Pump #3 lasted about 40 days and failed with a locked motor shaft. I started calling the warranty line about 2 weeks ago and only EVER get to leave a message.. never have I EVER gotten a call back. Replacing the pumps costs me $20 a shot to have the guy come and splice in the bilge connections... so for a $50 pump I am currently out a additional $60... and currently have NO working pump, and no response from ATTWOOD. There is a UTUBE link that will demo the problem(s) (I cannot link to here) Here is a copy of my invoice from Amazon (purchased 28 July 2014) and a pix of the dissolved shaft.. if you wish any of these returned please send me a shipper.. Signed Sea Antsy Response recd from XXXXX XXXXXX call center manager ( with my comments) Dear Bob Our warranty procedure states to send the parts back with a copy of the receipt to receive a replacement. XXXXX made an exception seeing as you emailed a copy of your receipt, so he sent you a pump to make sure you had a working pump on your boat. I can send you a replacement once you send in the failed pumps. We do not cover shipping or labor cost. (COMMENT BY SEA ANTSY) At this point the only positive that I can take away from this painful & expensive saga is that I did NOT and WILL NOT incur any further costs by sending the 3 failed pumps back to ATTWOOD. I would also like to get some information on how you are using these pumps. I see the picture of the deteriorated impeller shaft, which appears to be electrolysis ( stray current in the water)(COMMENT BY SEA ANTSY) ?ELECTROLYSIS.. on ONE of YOUR pumps but not the others?? Within ~1month ???And for the FIRST time in the life of this 25yr old boat??? And without any sign of galling/corrosion?? Absurd. as for the pumps that are dying prematurely, are they running continuously ? (COMMMENT BY SEA ANTSY) No, not continuously, rarely even when they are SUPPOSED to!!! ..and when they die its only rain water that they are sitting in… are they removing rain water or is there a leak in your boat? are they used in fresh water or salt water? (COMMENT BY SEA ANTSY) ? SALT WATER…. What does that have to do with anything .. is there some hidden caveat that they are unsuitable for salt water… no these are in the bilge of a Boston Whaler and only RARELY even discharge the rainwater!!! Clearing up negative comments

Received this week. Reviewed 1 Star comments before buying and there was reference to “ electronic sensing” The pump that I have received “has a FLOAT SWITCH” which Negates the Negative Reviews??? This is used as ‘ a backup - to large Rule pumps’ - “ if you will, “a Canary in the Mine” Please Note - it’s a float switch - therefore kindly change the negative reviews ????? Does what it says on the Package

Works well, but doesn't pump super fast

It's not the fastest pump in the world, but auto float feature is simple and works great. Definitely a nice upgrade from having a pump AND switch in my bilge, even if it's a bit slower.

Be aware that it does not come with a 3 pin connector. Also don't make the same mistake I did by taking off the complet support bracket. Just unclip the unit from its blue base when removing the old one.
