Small birds love this feeder

I have two of these feeders and I only wish there was a bigger version! The small birds love this, the house finches, chickadees, tufted titmouses and many others. They clean the feeders out quickly and I have to completely refill them every other day. I recently bought a third one to use when I was cleaning one of the others. I use black oil sunflower seed which is preferred by many species. These have really been great feeders for here in the Austin TX area.

Has attracted blue birds!!

I'm new to this bird business, but I fell in love with bluebirds on sight. After spending about $250 on 2 houses and poles and worms, I had no luck last year. I'm not even sure why I decided try this blue plastic dish. Maybe I thought if they saw the worms they would come. I hung this dish on the back of one of my houses and just noticed my first buebirds this morning. So excited. Just ordered another one for my other house which hasn't attracted any interest without a dish on the back.

Great feeder

Very sturdy and easy to clean. Attracts a wide variety of birds. First feeder glass broke when a squirrel knocked it off the pole where it was hanging from.. I tape the hook to the pole now and have not expeienced any problems.

They keep seed drier!

Wet seed can be dangerous, as it harbors bacteria, to birds, with finches particularly vulnerable. I have bought several of these because, unlike niger-seed socks, they keep the seed fairly dry and, if it does rain, they're easy to take down, take apart and clean with hot, soapy water. I then let them dry in the sun. I'll add, finches give them a thumbs up too! As I write this, I can see 2 little gold finches at my feeder!

We like it

Hi. The human that lives in the house in my yard has been feeding us for a few years. We are thankful for that, however, when it would rain, the feeder would fill up with water and our food would get all weird and gummy. I mean, we’d still eat it, but somewhat begrudgingly. She also struggled to keep up with our demands. She finally decided to buy another feeder, but I guess she was on a budget. She set this one out for us, and we were a little skeptical considering what she paid for it. But actually we liked it a lot! The holes in the bottom make sure the rain drains out and keeps our food from getting too gummy. It has nice balance, and sometimes I even have 2 other bird friends join me for meals on it (we are small). She told us yesterday she is getting a few more for us to share and keep up with our winter demands. This is why we let her keep living here.

BLUEBIRD HAPPINESS

We were surprised to see beautiful BLUEBIRDS show up at the feeder in January. Bluebirds initially showed up in the fall eating berries on from purple beautyberry bush. The majority of show up at 9am on sunny days, but also come when it's raining and snowing, leaving around 5pm. Lately males and females have been coming and going throughout the day. We placed the feeder and birdhouse in an area that gets the most direct sunlight. They enjoy perching on the fence watching over each other as they eat. I learned adding crushed eggshells will add calcium support for mother birds and stronger eggs. I highly recommend the feeder!!

Good feeder

Seems very durable. Metal is reasonable stiff. Lid is a push button spring open design. openings are large enough for sunflower seeds to fall into area for easy reach of the birds. This is helped by the internal design that guides the seed towards the opening. So far the seeds continue to fill in as the birds remove them. I sent another feeder back because the opening was small and as the birds removed the sunflower seed the rest would stick/jam up and fall in to the opening.

Great but not squirrel proof!

This is a great design for birds and holds a ton of bird seed but it is NOT squirrel proof. Those buggers quickly found a way to lift the lid and remove all the little plastic framing pieces from each feeding hole tossing them on the ground. They hang by their feet and dip into the feeder mission-impossible style and have made it impossible for the song birds to use it! Wish I’d known before purchasing this because I live in a very squirrel rich area and they’re crafty.

Quality on this is item is not good.

I have two of these bird feeders which I bought years ago. They have a galvanized metal base (not sure about pewter?) and these work great. Bought them from Lowes for about $30 each and very happy with them. The unit I recently received via Amazon claims to be brushed pewter. Not sure black spray paint on metal constitutes as such. I can live with this. However, the glass at the top is very thin and was chipped when I received it. After one week of use the unit is not longer working - see picture. I paid $70, where do I go from here? How do I get a working unit or get my money back?

Super cute and attracts small birds

I really like the look of this feeder! It doesn't allow the bigger birds to bully onto it. They have a hard time hanging on. Smaller seed-eating birds love it, and it is easy to clean. Do far resistant to rain, doesn't rust.
