i've never owned one of these

but i am glad this is the first one i've owned. pops out with easy, bracket to hang and keep expanded works well. the cord is really long, amazing. i was worried i'd need to run an extension cord to use this how i wanted and to my pleasant surprise, i didn't. i'd definitely recommend it.

Inexpensive but nice looking and functional

Didn't want to spend $300 on a globe lamp. This does the job very well. Lights up my living room nicely!

I don’t understand?

Am I missing a piece? I don’t understand how I’m supposed to hang this. In the instructions, it says to place the shade holder through the socket if the wire? Am I supposed to puncture a hole in the wire? Not worth the price if I can’t even hang it…

Good shade of white - NOT yellow

The paper shade was thick enough to stop any glare from light bulb, yet thin enough to allow adequate light to pass through and light room. It is a nice color of white - better than the photo shown in product description which is more brownish. It has been hanging from a hook in my ceiling for 15 months now and still looks great. The switch on end of cord is in a low convenient spot to reach (unlike other cords I have seen in store and on line. Keep in mind that it is paper so handle gently while assembling and it should serve you well.

A paper ball to hide your light bulb

As far as paper ball lights go, this one is perfectly good. It's easy to put together and easy to hang if you have a drill. You won't win any design contests but you knew that already. The only reason I've knocked it down a star is it's a bit pricey: you can get two lighting kits for $15 here on Amazon so you're basically paying $40 for your paper ball. FYI: these pictures were taken with a 60w bulb, although you can go as high as 100w.
